A 10-year-old boy was airlifted to South Bend Memorial Hospital and the boy’s mother and sister were also injured in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning, Oct. 14, 2014, at Johnson Road and County Road 400 West. According to the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department, the child suffered what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, including a broken arm.
Donnivan Jaske was airlifted to the South Bend hospital’s trauma center. His 5-year-old sister, Madison, and their mother, Kimberly Jaske, 31, were taken to IU Health LaPorte Hospital.
Deputies said Kimberly Jaske, of rural LaPorte, was turning east onto Johnson from 400 West and was struck by a westbound pickup truck traveling over the Indiana Toll Road overpass on Johnson. The pickup truck struck the driver’s side of the car. Jaske was cited for failure to yield the right of way.
The pickup’s driver, Tonette Logmann, 43, of rural LaPorte, was not hurt.
Johnson Road was closed for about two hours in that area after the crash, which occurred shortly after 8 a.m.
Center Township Volunteer Fire Department, LaPorte Fire Department, LaPorte County EMS, LaPorte Police, and Indiana State Police were on scene along with county deputies.
