La Portean donates to police K-9 program
City of La Porte Police Specialist Rob Hagler (left) and K-9 Dallas accept a donation from La Porte resident Joe Hofman for the department’s K-9 program on Friday, Nov. 6. Hofman made the donation in memory of his wife, Karen Hofman, and son, Kevin Hupertz. The money will be used for training equipment and other resources for the program.
Friendship Gardens Turkey Walk Nov. 26
On Nov. 26 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friendship Botanic Gardens in Michigan City will host its annual free Gobble Gobble Turkey Walk. Children will have the chance to embark on a turkey count scavenger hunt throughout the gardens and nature trails – find every hidden paper turkey and win a special Thanksgiving prize!
Children may also check out the ArcelorMittal Children’s Garden, an arena for interactive natural play experiences.
Friendship Botanic Gardens is a historic 105-acre garden park tucked in the majestic old-growth forests surrounding Trail Creek and is located at 2055 E. U.S. 12. Pets on a leash are welcome.
