La Porte County Sheriff John T. Boyd today announced the promotion of Deputy Andrew D. Hahn to the rank of sergeant, effective July 4, 2020.
Sgt. Hahn is a 2001 graduate of Michigan City High School and a life-long resident of La Porte County. He began his career as a jail deputy with the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office in March 2005.
In February 2008 Hahn was transferred and promoted to the merit (patrol) division. He is an honor graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, Basic Recruit Class 2008. Upon graduation from the academy, Hahn began working in the patrol division. In January 2014, he was selected as a K-9 handler.
Hahn is assigned to the midnight shift. In addition to his supervisor responsibilities, he will continue to serve as a K-9 handler.
Hahn resides in rural Wills Township with his wife and son.
This promotion follows the retirement of Sergeant Kevin Ulam, who served 32 years with the sheriff’s office.
